What better way to test a new camera than with real life anime characters? I recently received the Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera and have been very excited to test it out in the "field." Coincidentally, I ran into the Anime Boston 2012 event and was able to test the X-Pro1 with great subjects. Read more after the break>>>
This was shot with the 35mm f/1.4 lens. At its widest aperture, the third subject on the right is slightly out of focus. Just to give you an idea of how shallow the depth of field is at f/1.4, she was only standing about 20cm closer than the others.
Power Ranger enemies? Given the X-Pro1's newly designed sensor, color rendition and clarity is exeptionsl for a crop sensor camera.

These outfits are quite normal in Takeshita Street - Harajuku.
Even though the focus is a bit off, you can still see the low light and dynamic range performance of the camera. The 400ISO Auto setting allows the camera to govern the ISO speed, limiting it to 400 (or any other specified value).
Judging by the sword, it could be either Final Fantasy or Soulcalibur.
They were recruiting and teaming up against an unknown force, probably zombies. Spider Man is about to take flight.
Sakura tree in Boston Public Garden. I couldn't help but to enhance the colors during post-processing. I might have over done it with the temperature.

I hope you've enjoyed the photos. The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is definitely a keeper. I replaced my Canon 7D with the Fuji and based on this single day of shooting, I have decided to hang on to it. The reason is not only that the the "upgrade" cost me zero dollars, but mainly because the camera is lighter, more compact, it looks much better and has a better sensor.
I do have to say that this rangefinder setup is quite different from anything I've used before. After a few shots, I was able to quickly adjust and by the end of the day it was almost second nature.
Coming from a previous 7D owner, a down side for me is the considerably slower AF speed. For the type of photography I will be doing, I don't see any immediate issues with this shortcoming.
